Microsoft has ended mainstream support for Dynamics GP. No more security patches, no more compliance updates, no more bug fixes. Every day you stay on GP is a day your system is unpatched, and your auditors are watching.

GP Support Has Ended.
Your Migration
Doesn’t Have to Be Hard.

Microsoft ended mainstream support for Dynamics GP. The clock is running, and the longer you wait, the higher the risk. TechWise Group has a proven GP-to-Business Central migration path that preserves your full financial history, replaces every report, and goes live in 90–120 days without operational disruption.

The Cost of Waiting

Every Month on Unsupported GP
Is a Month of Compounding Risk.

This isn’t a hypothetical. These are the specific, documented risks that apply to every company still running Great Plains today.

Unpatched Security Vulnerabilities

Microsoft no longer releases security patches for GP. Known vulnerabilities accumulate with no fix coming. Your ERP, the system with your most sensitive financial data, is exposed.

Active risk, no patch cycle

Compliance Documentation Gaps

GP’s audit trails were not built for modern SOX, HIPAA, or FDA compliance standards. Without active Microsoft support, there is no path to close these gaps, only workarounds that grow more fragile over time.

SOX · HIPAA · FDA · CMMC exposure

Integration Breakage

Every Microsoft 365 update, Azure change, or third-party API update is a potential GP integration failure, with no Microsoft support to fix it. Your connections to the rest of your stack become increasingly brittle.

No Microsoft support for breakage

Escalating Maintenance Costs

As GP ages without official support, the cost of keeping it running rises, custom maintenance, third-party patches, consultant fees for issues that should be covered by a vendor. The economics worsen every quarter.

Cost compounds each quarter

Shrinking GP Expertise

The pool of qualified GP consultants is contracting as the platform ages out. The partner who maintains your system today may not be available in 18 months, and finding a replacement will be harder and more expensive.

Talent market narrowing

Audit and Transaction Risk

If your company is heading toward a sale, PE investment, or external audit, an unsupported ERP is a significant diligence flag. Buyers and auditors view GP’s end-of-life status as a liability, and they’re right.

M&A and audit diligence exposure

The question isn’t whether to migrate. Microsoft answered that. The question is whether you migrate on a planned 90-120 day timeline, or in an emergency when a security incident, a failed integration, or an audit forces your hand. The difference in cost, disruption, and risk is significant.

Tell Us If This Sounds Familiar

You Already Know GP’s Days
Are Numbered. Here’s What We Hear.

Every GP company we talk to is already living with the consequences of running on an unsupported platform. The pain is real, but so is the path out.

We’ve been “planning to migrate” for two years. Every time we scope it, the project feels too big and we push it another quarter. I know we can’t keep doing that.

CFO, $65M Manufacturer, Chicago

Our GP consultant told us last month he’s winding down his GP practice. He’s the only person who knows our customizations. I felt the urgency for the first time.

Controller, $42M Distributor, Philadelphia

We’re in a PE-backed portfolio company. Our sponsor just flagged GP’s end-of-life in a board deck as a risk item. The pressure to move is real now.

VP Finance, $110M Multi-Entity Company

GP broke our Microsoft 365 integration last month after an Office update. We’re patching it manually. Our IT guy said it’ll happen again and he doesn’t know when.

CFO, $55M Food & Beverage Company, Los Angeles

The migration feels big because nobody has shown you a clear scope. The first thing we do is deliver a Great Plains End-of-Life Readiness Assessment, before you commit to anything. Once you see the actual risk flags and scope, it’s almost always less than you feared.

Your Data Is Safe

Your Full GP History Comes With You.
Nothing Gets Left Behind.

The fear of losing years of financial history is the most common reason GP companies delay. Here’s exactly what we migrate, and how every balance is validated before you retire GP.

Full Transaction History

Every posted GP transaction: invoices, payments, journal entries, payables, migrated and reconciled to your final GP trial balance. Your historical P&L is intact and auditable from Day 1.

Open AR & AP Balances

Open invoices and unpaid bills migrate with full aging intact. Your AR and AP aging in Business Central on Day 1 matches your final GP reports exactly, down to the penny.

Chart of Accounts, Rebuilt

We don’t copy your GP COA. We redesign it for the dimensional reporting, cost center visibility, and consolidation structure your business actually needs going forward.

Customers, Vendors & Master Data

Every customer and vendor record, payment terms, credit limit, and relationship history migrates and is deduplicated. Your team doesn’t start over on 10 years of master data.

SmartLists & Reports, Replaced

Every GP SmartList and Management Reporter report is inventoried in discovery. Each one is rebuilt in Power BI or Business Central’s native reporting engine, with significantly more capability.

Integrations & Third-Party Connections

Every GP integration is audited before the project starts. Most have Business Central equivalents, frequently better ones. Nothing is left as a gap at go-live. Your integration audit is an early deliverable.

Reporting Replacement

Management Reporter and FRx
Don’t Just Get Replaced. They Get Upgraded.

Reporting is the most common concern in a GP migration, and the area where Business Central creates the biggest uplift. Here’s exactly what replaces what.

What you have in GP today

Management Reporter / FRx

Static row/column report definitions

Manual export to Excel for board packs

No real-time data, requires manual refresh

No drill-down to transaction level

FRx is fully unsupported and end-of-life

Limited visualization, text tables only

No mobile access or self-service capability

What you get in Business Central

Power BI + Native BC Reporting

Live dashboards connected directly to BC data

Board packs generated automatically, no exports

Real-time data, always current, always reconciled

Full drill-through from summary to transaction

Actively developed and Microsoft-supported

Charts, KPI tiles, trend lines, full visualization

Accessible on any device, desktop, tablet, mobile

Every Management Reporter and FRx report is inventoried in discovery. We document who uses each one, how, and what business decision it drives. Each report gets a Power BI equivalent built and validated before go-live, so your team lands on better reporting, not just different reporting.

Why TechWise for This Migration

We’ve Done This Migration.
Many Times. Here’s What Makes It Different.

GP migrations fail when partners underestimate the reporting complexity, mishandle the data transformation, or skip the parallel run to save time. We don’t do any of those things.

01

Former Controllers on Every Project

Our migrations are led by accountants who have closed the books on a GP company. They know which SmartLists your controller can’t live without, which Management Reporter trees matter, and what breaks in the first close on a new ERP.

02

The Reporting Gap Is Our Specialty

Management Reporter and FRx replacement is where most GP migrations fail or disappoint. We inventory every report, rebuild each one in Power BI, and validate them with your team before go-live. Nobody discovers missing reports after cutover.

03

Your Budget Model. Zero Surprises.

Fixed-Fee or Time & Materials, you choose. The two-week migration plan we produce before any commitment gives you a precise scope. No “unforeseen complexity” invoices. No scope creep surprises at go-live.

04

The Parallel Run Is Non-Negotiable

We run both GP and Business Central simultaneously until your finance team trusts every number. Most partners shorten or skip this step to hit their timeline. We don’t, it’s the only way to guarantee zero disruption at cutover.

05

Compliance Rebuilt from Day 1

SOX, HIPAA, FDA 21 CFR, CMMC, built into the Business Central architecture before go-live. The compliance gaps that GP’s end-of-life created get closed properly, with audit-ready documentation prepared before your auditors arrive.

06

We Stay After Go-Live

Quarterly Business Reviews with a live Power BI ROI dashboard. Your first close in Business Central will be shorter, cleaner, and more auditable than your last close in GP. We make sure of it.

“We’d been on GP for 11 years and had been ‘planning to migrate’ for three of them. TechWise delivered a readiness assessment in less than a week, and it was half the scope we’d been quoted before. We went live in 16 weeks. Our first close was 5 days. Our auditors didn’t flag a single issue. I wish we’d done it two years ago.”

Common Questions

GP Migration Questions
We Hear Every Week.

All of it moves. TechWise migrates your full GP transaction history, open AR and AP balances, vendor and customer records, SmartList reports, and chart of accounts, all validated against your final GP trial balance before go-live. Zero data loss is standard on every migration. Your entire financial history, every transaction back to GP Day 1, is available in Business Central from the moment you go live.

For a standard GP migration, TechWise delivers go-live in 90–120 days. Environments with multiple legal entities, complex integrations, regulated industry requirements (FDA, CMMC, HIPAA), or heavy reporting complexity generally run 120–150 days. The timeline is fixed before Day 1, you know your go-live date before the project starts.

TechWise offers both Fixed-Fee and Time & Materials engagements. GP migrations generally range from $85,000 to $200,000 depending on company size, number of entities, reporting complexity, and compliance requirements. The two-week migration plan we produce before any commitment gives you a precise scope and cost range. No surprises when the project starts.

Yes, and the parallel run period is a standard, non-negotiable part of our methodology. Both GP and Business Central run simultaneously during the validation phase. Your finance team processes transactions in BC and validates every result against GP until they trust every number completely. There is no operational gap at cutover. You don’t retire GP until your team is ready, not when the project plan says so.

Power BI replaces Management Reporter, and it’s significantly more capable. Every MR and FRx report is inventoried in the discovery phase, categorized by business use, and rebuilt in Power BI or Business Central’s native financial reporting engine before go-live. No report gaps at cutover. Most clients find their new Power BI reports do in one click what Management Reporter required three exports and an Excel macro to produce.

Often not, but it depends on who’s scoping it and how thoroughly. Partners who don’t have deep GP expertise quote every SmartList as a custom report build and every integration as a custom development project. We inventory each one, identify which have native Business Central equivalents, and only quote the genuine complexity. Our two-week migration plan almost always produces a lower scope than what GP companies have previously been quoted. We’re happy to review a prior quote and tell you where the numbers came from.
