Edge Tips: Collaborate with Workspaces – Tech Tip for October 16, 2025
In this week’s tech tip, we’re introducing one of Microsoft’s recent collaboration tools—Microsoft Edge Workspaces. Designed for teamwork, Edge Workspaces allows you and your colleagues to share a common browser view, complete with open tabs and websites, so everyone can stay on the same page. It’s a simple and secure way to work together in real time without sending links back and forth. Let’s take a closer look at how this works!
What Are Edge Workspaces?
Edge Workspaces creates a shared browser session that multiple people can join. Each workspace includes a unique set of tabs and sites, and any changes you make—like opening or closing a tab—are visible to everyone in the workspace.
This makes it ideal for:
- Project teams that are tracking the same resources.
- Departments collaborating on shared documents or dashboards.
- Meetings or research sessions where participants need to view the same pages.
TIP: Each user still signs in with their own Microsoft Entra ID account, so data such as passwords and favorites remain private.

How to Create a Workspace
Let’s explore how to set up a brand-new Microsoft Edge Workspace in just a few steps.
Open a Microsoft Edge Browser Session:
- Select the ‘
’ (Workspaces) icon (top-left corner) in your browser window. - Click on the ‘Create new’ button drop-down.

- Select from Workspace Options:
- Save tabs to a workspace: Great if you already have a group of tabs open for your new space to include.
- Name your Workspace and select a color to distinguish the space.
- Select the ‘Done’ button to launch the new Workspace.
- Create a new workspace: Perfect for starting fresh with a new space (you will add new tabs as you go).

How to Share a Workspace
Once you have created a Microsoft Edge Workspace, you can invite others to join and collaborate with you in the new space.

Open a Microsoft Edge Browser Session:
- Using the ‘
’ (Workspaces) button drop-down, select to re-open a Workspace. - Choose the ‘Invite to workspace’ button to invite collaborators:
- Type the person’s email address in the field provided.
- Click the button to ‘Send invite email,’ or ‘Copy link’ to share it.
TIP: Each collaborator must be signed in with a Microsoft account and use Microsoft Edge version 114 or later. Only invite people you trust into your Workspaces. Edge Workspaces can only be shared within the same Microsoft Entra tenant.
TIP: Opening new tabs in a Workspace will keep them ‘open’ until the tab is physically closed. Edge saves the tab’s history to the most recently accessed page.

Managing Workspaces
When you’ve finished collaborating, you can manage your Workspace easily:
- Rename or change colors:
- Click the ‘
Workspaces’ button and select your Workspace to open it. - Click the ‘
Workspaces’ (top-left corner) button and ‘Edit workspace.’ - Choose a different color or edit your Workspace name.
- Select the ‘Done’ button to complete the editing process.
- Click the ‘
- Select the ‘New’ button to add new spaces.
- Click the ‘Delete’ button to delete your space.
TIP: It’s always a good idea to delete Workspaces when your collaborative time has ended.
We hope you’ll explore Microsoft Edge Workspaces and see how it can help your team stay connected and productive—all without leaving your browser.
