Copilot Tips: Prepare Actions – Tech Tip for April 8, 2025

In this week’s tech tip, we’re diving into how the Microsoft 365 Copilot Actions tool—and specifically ‘Prepare’ action cards—can help streamline your day and ensure you’re always ready for what lies ahead. In this example, we walk you through creating a tailored daily brief that keeps you focused and on track. Let’s explore how Prepare Actions can simplify your morning routine and help you tackle the day with ease.

Create Your Action

The Actions tool is accessible via the Microsoft 365 Copilot portal, or from the Microsoft 365 Copilot desktop app

Navigate to and select the ‘Actions’ tab to get started:

  • From the Actions menu, and the ‘Create’ tab, select the “Help me prepare for today,” action card.
  • Choose parameters for your action. Select from the following options to receive your daily brief:
    • Email: Receive an email with a brief summary of your day.
    • Teams message: A ‘Workflows’ speciific chat will populate in ‘Chats’ in Teams. An active link to a Loop Page will be created from the requested action.
    • Word document: Receive an email with an active link to a Word document (linked from OneDrive).
  • Choose how often you want to receive action notifications and summaries:
    • Do not repeat: Runs the action one-time, only.
    • Repeat daily: Defaulted choice. Receive daily briefs.

TIP: If you choose ‘Do not repeat’ the action will still remain in the Actions ‘Manage’ tab. You can re-run the same action any time, or delete the action when you no longer need it.

TIP: Using either Teams messages (Loop Pages) or Word to receive your daily brief offers further Copilot integrations in these apps allowing you to prompt and plan even more with your AI assistant.

Preview Your Action

The “Help me prepare for my day” Prepare action lists its parameters to ‘locate calendar, emails, and Teams messages,’ and will ‘analyze and prepare a daily brief’ for you.

  • Select the ‘Create’ button to complete and schedule the Copilot action.

A daily brief will be sent using the option you specified, (via email, Teams message, or Word document).

Review Your Daily Brief

Copilot’s AI-powered daily brief will include Teams meeting, and callback summaries related to people in your team, links to related files, emails, as well as important upcoming calendar dates.

By using Copilot Actions, you can reduce mental clutter and increase productivity, allowing you to stay organized and on top of your to-do list with minimal effort.
