Teams Tips: Loop Components in Meetings – Tech Tip for March 18, 2025

In this week’s Tech Tip, we explore how to create a Loop Component in Microsoft Teams meetings within the Chat pane instantly to collaborate with your team in real-time. This feature allows you to capture meeting notes, track tasks, or organize information as the meeting unfolds, enhancing your collaboration and productivity. Let’s dive in!

Use Loop Components in Teams Meeting Chat

Microsoft Teams includes Loop Components to enhance real-time collaboration. These elements help capture meeting notes, track tasks, and organize information seamlessly. Utilizing Loop Components in your meeting chats ensures everyone stays aligned, boosting productivity and engagement.

From Microsoft Teams and Calendar tab:

  • Start or join a scheduled Microsoft Teams meeting.
  • From the meeting ribbon menu, select meeting ‘Chat’ to open the Chat feature.
  • In the Chat pane, from the menu, select the ‘Loop’ icon to populate a component.
  • Select the blue ‘Loop’ icon (top-left) in the component to open it in a browser.

TIP: Find Loop components after the meeting in Recent Pages at loop.cloud.microsft. Loop Pages are also stored and named with *.loop extensions.

Check Loop Link Settings:

  • Loop component name will initially populate as a ‘Loop paragraph’ but changes into ‘People in your organization.’
  • Edit your share settings to include:
    • People in your organization: Default setting shares with all people in your organization for ease in sharing.
    • People currently in the meeting chat: Limit your Loop component to share it only with people in your meeting chat.
    • Only people with existing access: Reshare with people in your organization who already have access.
    • In ‘More settings,’ default sharing of the Loop component will allow editing for collaboration but let’s go over each setting:
    • Select the down arrow/caret to view the drop-down for ‘More settings’:
      • Can edit: Allows the people assigned link access to edit/collaborate.
      • Can view: People assigned link access cannot make any changes, but they can view the Loop component as it is being populated/updated.

Loop Menu Features and Component Options

Include some useful tools in your Loop component during the meeting to assist your team in staying organized and progressing efficiently.

  • Insert Text:
    • Add and insert pre-formatted text into your component.
  • Access secondary menu options:
    • Hover over the title and paragraph sections to view the ‘+’ icon to insert and use (secondary menu) insert options.
    • Copilot license (add-in) required to access Loop in-app options such as ‘Drafting page content’ and ‘Summarize page’ features.
    • Add a table.
  • Add a table by selecting the ‘Table’ button.
  • Select the ‘…’ (ellipses) button to choose from further menu options such as: Bulleted list, Checklist, Task list, Voting table, Numbered list, Q&A Session, Progress tracker, templates, and more.

TIP: If working with menu features in the Loop component within the Chat window proves difficult, select the blue ‘Loop’ icon (top-left) to launch the component in a new browser window.

Give Loop components and features a try! Streamline your workflow, increase productivity, and enhance team collaboration. For an even better experience, open the Loop component in a new browser window for improved navigation and ease of use!
