Teams Tips: Copilot AI Notes – Tech Tip for March 11, 2025
In this week’s Tech Tip, we discover how to supercharge your Teams meetings by using Copilot-based AI Notes combined with Loop meeting agendas to stay organized. These two powerful tools, available as Teams integrations with Copilot and Loop, can help you to run your meetings with ease. Let’s get started!
Meetings with AI Notes
Enabling AI Notes in Teams meetings can significantly enhance your meetings by providing a virtual assistant to take notes. Using this Copilot AI tool will automatically enable Copilot and generate a Loop page dedicated to your meeting agenda which can significantly help with organizing your thoughts and keeping your team on track. Easily compare your AI Notes with your Loop meeting agenda after the meeting.
First, schedule a meeting with Microsoft Teams:
- Open ‘Microsoft Teams’ and navigate to the ‘Calendar’ tab.
- Click ‘New Meeting’ to create a new event, and add participants, a title, time, and other meeting details.
TIP: If you want to keep everyone in the loop, even those not directly invited to the meeting, add the meeting to a relevant Teams channel. Encourage your team to add to the agenda.

Turn on AI-Powered Notes
- In the Teams meeting, from the same Details tab, toggle ‘AI-generated notes’ to ‘On.’
- Float over the toggle to read the description: “Group skills let Copilot join the meeting chat and handle tasks such as taking notes for everyone.”
- Use the Loop populated Meeting Notes page that generates to add your agenda.
- When the meeting starts: Copilot-powered AI captures key discussion points.
- This feature works by turning on transcription and real-time speech-to-text.
- A notice appears to let you know this feature is turned on: “AI-generated notes have been turned on.”
- Click on the Copilot icon to brainstorm during the meeting. Only you will see your individual Copilot chat in the meeting.
- This feature works by turning on transcription and real-time speech-to-text.
TIP: To generate Copilot-powered AI Meeting notes summary, the meeting must last a minimum of five minutes or longer to populate post-meeting.
Best Practice for Effectively Generated AI Notes:
- Review and Edit: While the AI does a good job capturing key points, it’s always helpful to review the AI and meeting notes for any inaccuracies or missed information.
- Highlight Action Items: Make sure to mark action items or decisions clearly in the Loop Meeting Notes page provided. You can do this by adding bullet points or using checklists in the Loop component.
- Use Templates: If your team frequently holds similar types of meetings, you can use and choose from several different Loop templates for the Meeting Agenda. This makes it quicker to organize notes in a consistent format.

Navigating Loop Menu Features
After ‘AI Notes’ are toggled to ‘On’ and the ‘Meeting Notes’ page is populated, use Loop menu and optional items to further build out the meeting agenda:
- Blocks: Use Loop ‘Blocks’ to add emphasis using emojis, boost, comment, or move entire sections or ‘blocks’ of text (hover over Loop Page sections in left margins to view and select Loop Blocks).
- Secondary Menu: Select the ‘+’ button to add available menu options and Loop items such as Tables, Checklists, Bulleted lists, Dates, Text styles such as Paragraph styles, Collapsible Headings, Templates and more.
TIP: Type the “/” (forward-slash) keyboard shortcut in a Loop section just as you would use the ‘+’ button to show Loop drop-down menu options.

- Lock Page: Lock edits to your Loop meeting agenda notes to discontinue further additions after the meeting is over.
- Click the active link at the top left of any Loop Page to go directly to loop.cloud.microsoft to use this feature.
TIP: Add more data and/or refresh your browser if ‘Lock page’ toggle feature is not yet available. The lock feature may take a few moments to begin working once toggled on.
