Windows 11: Start Menu Updates – Tech Tip for August 10, 2021

Windows 11 includes enhancements to many existing features and also introduces a number of new features and updates. What better place to get started at looking at these changes than with the Start Menu?

Microsoft has changed its Start Menu position from left to center. The reasoning behind the move is to assist with accessibility. Of course, it is customizable and if you want to move it back to the left, that is an option.

Some key features of the updated Windows 11 Start Menu include:

  • A “Recommended” section that auto-suggests previously used applications and files.
  • Pinned apps where users can pin frequently used apps.
  • A search bar enabling search across files and the web.
  • Widgets in place of the former Live Tiles.
